www.sebastianinlandharbor.com San Sebastian Harbor Partners LLC was awarded the opportunity to develop this site through a “Request for Proposals’ issued by the City of St. Augustine in December 2003. The principals and managing members of Sebastian Inland Harbor are Matthew H. Merritt & Richard A. Newton. The “Sebastian Inland Harbor” is a waterfront re-development located in the heart of America’s oldest city, St. Augustine, Florida. The leadership and City Administration of St. Augustine has long intended for Sebastian Inland Harbor to be the centerpiece of a new entry corridor into historic St. Augustine. On the bank of the San Sebastian River, just north of the Matanzas River/Intercostals waterway, on 14 acres of land is the setting for Sebastian Inland Harbor. The project fronts historic King Street and is located directly across the street from the corporate offices of Florida East Coast Railroad, built at the turn of the 20th Century by acclaimed developer/industrialist Henry Flagler. This is conceptually a public/private venture, which St. Augustine has invested many years to nurturing to insure that the final development of Sebastian Inland Harbor is representative of their citizens’ best interest’s and the leadership of current and previous administrations. The Cities dedication and tireless efforts have guaranteed that the Sebastian Inland Harbor development will equal and perhaps surpass their collective vision. Certain elements are the direct result of an effort to protect and insure a public presence at Sebastian Inland Harbor providing an inviting atmosphere for evenings with family and friends. These include: a “Boardwalk” stretching the length of the riverfront and surrounding the Marina Basin; an “Outdoor Amphitheater”; a new retail district on Sebastian Harbor Drive (previously Lorida Street) and a permanent “Sculpture Garden” that is integrated throughout the development, as an enticement to explore. Thomas Glover White and Marianne Lerbs hard at work on the sculptures at their studio in St. Augustine. Fortunately, the services of the renowned Jacksonville architectural firm of Ervin Lovett & Miller were secured during the conceptual site planning for Sebastian Inland Harbor phase and their work will continue as primary architects for the entire development.
When the development is completed in the winter of 2007. Sebastian Inland Harbor it will include a world class Spa, a high-end boutique Hotel containing 83 rooms, a 65 slip protected inland Marina, 96 condominium units, 24,000 square of retail space, an 8,000 square foot banquet facility and 15 loft units, ranging from 1,500 to 2,250 square feet. |
